Los Angeles, known as the City of Angels, is a sprawling metropolis that encompasses over 465 square miles. With temperate weather year-round, and blue skies much of the year, anytime is a good time to visit Los Angeles.

Each district in Los Angeles has a distinct culture and demographic. In the Downtown District you will find Chinatown, Little Tokyo, and Olvera Street (the birthplace of LA), all within walking distance. This is where you will find fine places to watch the symphony, the opera, musicals and plays.

The West side (closer to the ocean) is generally more expensive and high class. On the West side you will find Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, Wilshire, West LA and other relatively expensive neighborhoods. Of the group above, only Wilshire, West LA and Venice are city proper. To the North is Hollywood, which has been known for its studios. Further north is the San Fernando Valley, where most of the new studios and entertainment companies are.

There are so many things to see and do in Los Angeles that a single trip just isn’t enough. From at least three major theme parks, to all the wonderful restaurants and cafes, checking out the thriving nightlife, to catching the rays on a palm-lined beach, the fun just goes on and on. For art and music lovers, Los Angeles has science museums, art museums, history museums, and the world-class Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Los Angeles is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world with immigrants from over 140 different countries. This diversity gives a rich flavor to L.A.’s neighborhoods that makes each neighborhood unique. Add the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, and Los Angeles is like no other city in the world.

Nowadays those rituals are a year-round treat on this cobblestone street, which is a block-long cornucopia of traditional clothing and accessories, Mexican art, giftwares, leather goods, novelties and restaurants.

There is also a Visitors Center where tourists can appreciate the complimentary screening of a film which depicts early life in Los Angeles. Olvera Street was created in the ’30s and comprises the area known as the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument, which is the site of the city’s beginnings. Free tours are given to the public by the Las Angelinas, a non-profit organization.

Meaning “wine bottle” in Italian, La Botte is owner Stefano de Lorenzo’s upgraded version of his popular, postage-stamp-sized Piccolo Ristorante in neighboring Venice. The wine concept glows in a warmly elegant décor of variegated wine stained wood flooring and wine cask wainscoting.

A “vino paradiso” exists in La Botte’s 1,600 bottles of wine. Chef Luigi Fineo creatively infuses contemporary freshness into the Northern Italian appetizers, pasta, and entrees for an authentic Italian dining experience that will have you begging for more.

One of the jewels in their crown is certainly the Beverly Hills branch of McCormick & Schmick’s, situated on the ritziest stretch of Rodeo Drive.

Glamour-hungry tourists and wealthy locals populate the plush patio to people-watch and enjoy impeccably-sourced fish, crustaceans, and bivalves; the restaurant offers a different selection every day depending on what’s in season. Desserts aren’t quite so of-the-moment, but the Upside Down Apple Pie with caramelized walnut crust and dulce de leche ice cream is still a must-order item.
